Spring Cleaning

In English lectures, we are constantly reminded that what the author writes is not their own words. Even if they use the phrase "I", it is just a characterisation, merely a style. Anything written about their own opinions still are not their own words, they may have been what the author believes at the time but time changes beliefs and it's unfair to call an author on their past works. Then, there is the tricky genre of non-fiction that uses fictional elements. Writers like Virgina Woolf go on writing about women as authors and then we're told not to believe it. "Challenge everything you read," a professor deftly advised, "Do not take it for face value, they are lying, they are creating, they are writing."
I offer this same advice when looking through my gallery. It is a facade and even if some of it was, at one point factual and relevant, it is not autobiographical. Having said this, I've recently deleted a lot of my deviations and scraps. It's sad that I have to censor my art and writings, but, I do. Because, although I can point out that my works are characterised, it does not disassociate me from them.
I contemplated quitting deviantART, but I realised that I do not have to be ashamed of my artistic pursuits and have no need to justify them. I just need to be more aware of their content when it will be linked back to me. And that's more to do with what I do with my life than what I do with this website. Just took a round-about way of discovering it. Funny how that happens.

"Why am I so happy all the time?"
"Isn't that a good thing?"
"Ah yes. Then why is everybody else so miserable all the time?"
"Who cares, that's them."

Heh, I sort of acquired insonmia on purpose (via shift work, being a creative teen, all-nighting nintendo, etc.); but it's grown too big for me to control. I am often at its mercy.
This review, these compliments--you're very kind. I'm glad you like my work.

How young can you die of old age? (Stephen Wright)
I could totally relate to your piece: I am an insomniac by nature. You have a very distinct, unique style of writing that shines, even when you post experimental pieces. This is what I came home for is easily one of the most powerful poems I've read recently. Well done, all recognition is deserved
